Instructional Technology
Welcome to Instructional Technology
Payette School District has experienced an explosion of technology in the classroom over the last several years. We have moved from a one-man Instructional Technology shop that now requires multiple technicians to keep everything running efficiently for learning. Currently we are 1:1 with student Chromebook, beginning with second grade. Kindergarten and first grade students have daily access to iPads and Chromebooks, which are packed with high-quality instructional applications. Additionally, we still support computer labs at each school with Windows desktop machines. These are utilized for other instructional groupings and important during state testing weeks. Our students engage on more than a dozen different digital learning applications, selected by teachers to enhance classroom instruction. We blend traditional learning with the necessary digital learning of today’s modern classroom environment.
Payette High School assigns a Chromebook to each student to be taken home daily for assignments and homework. The required signed consent of liability and signed technology agreement must be on file prior to distribution. Students and parents are responsible for the proper care of devices and are liable for damage due to loss or mishandling. Parents of students in our other schools can make arrangements with the school if the child has need of a device at home. The same signed agreements are necessary. The District Office has a few Verizon Hot Spot data devices for check out for those families without Wi-Fi at home.
The district provides and oversees 200 computers for staff, along with the servers, printers, Wi-Fi, and necessary networking equipment to support the learning environment and management and reporting requirements of a school system.
Device Protection Program
Welcome to the Payette Joint School District Technology program; a comprehensive initiative designed to equip students with modern tools and resources in their educational journey.
To ensure a safe and effective learning environment is kept, the Payette Schools will provide technology to its students. These devices will be consistent across grade groupings (Kindergarten, 1-6, and 7-12). These devices are for instructional purpose and to maximize education.
As a student of the Payette School District and the parent/guardian of such student, we assume responsibility for loss, damage, or theft of assigned technology. Whether used at school of off school premises, we recognize that the device is school property and will not intentionally maltreat the equipment or act with gross negligence.
“I accept responsibility for the appropriate use of the District equipment entrusted to me and promise to return the equipment when requested.”
“I acknowledge that abuse, misuse, or malicious behavior may result in a discussion related to repair or replacement of damaged equipment entrusted to me and payment to the district or school for such repair or replacement.”
“I understand the Payette School District offers an “Optional Device Protection Plan.” The cost of the optional insurance is $25 for 1 year of coverage and can be renewed each year. This $25 cost covers one (1) claim per year for accidental damage, loss, or theft. Subsequent claims may be filed with school administration and will incur a $20 deductible. Negligence, gross negligence or purposeful damage, failure to file a police report for lost or stolen devices and intentional damage to someone else’s device are NOT covered by this insurance. When necessary, a loaner device can be checked out while repairs are being completed.
