Moment of Silence

Idaho’s Daily Moment of Silence Requirement

Effective July 1 , 2026

In accordance with Idaho Code § 33-1639, Payette School District will observe a daily 60-second Moment of Silence at or near the beginning of each school day

During this time, students are expected to remain seated or standing quietly and refrain from talking or engaging in activities that distract others. Students are not required to engage in any particular activity during this time or to share with others how they choose to use it. All students are expected to remain respectful of the silent environment and of the individual choices of others.

Teachers and staff will supervise the Moment of Silence in accordance with state law and will not direct or encourage students to use the time for any specific purpose.
